Volunteer / Intern Positions
Social Media Content Volunteer Job Title: Social Media Volunteer (remote or local to Hudson Valley, NY) Reports To: Director of Operations, Caitlin Quinn Executive Director, Lisa Prince Fishler Type: Unpaid, but happy to support with college credit, volunteer hours, and basically a fountain of warm fuzzies, karma points, and good vibes. Commitment: Flexible but hoping for weekly content on Facebook and Instagram specifically, whether pre-scheduled or posted on the fly. Responsibilities:
- Create engaging and on-brand posts for HeARTs Speak accounts, and maintain interaction with followers
- Adhere to HeARTs Speak’s strategic communications plan
- Work with the Director of Operations to develop monthly content plans and ideas for posts
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and an understanding that feedback will be part of the creative process
- Ability to adhere to critical deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in social media and Facebook-specific content creation
- Efficient turnaround of projects and tasks
- Reliable and consistent communication with the HeARTs Speak team members involved in projects.
- Maintaining and celebrating the HeARTs Speak brand, mission, and reputation.
Qualifications:
- Experience in content creation for social media
- Proficiency in understanding the nuts and bolts, analytics, and function of Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok platforms
- Proficient in basic email communication and comfort with online presence/communications
- Ability to work from home or using your own equipment and software.
- A willingness to learn more about the animal welfare/sheltering field and a judgement-free attitude!
- Brimming with creativity and the drive to experiment, ideate, and imagine!

Commitment: Flexible as a pool noodle – and just as summer-appropriate! 7-12 hours a week over the summer would be ideal, but we won’t complain about getting more of your valuable time! Responsibilities:
- Designing super cool, feel-good stuff that inspires one (or more) of these reactions: awe, laughter, a warmed heart, happy tears, inspiration, action, and motivation, to name a few.
- Aforementioned super cool things may include (but are not limited to, because the world is our oyster!): flyers, social graphics, infographics, multi-page PDF documents, illustrations, image overlays and embellishments, postcards, and website design components.
- Efficient turnaround of finished pieces
- Reliable communication with the Director of Operations or Executive Director, depending on the project.
- Maintaining and celebrating the HeARTs Speak brand, mission, and reputation.
- Humoring our infatuation with illustrated small animals, donuts, and cats that resemble celebrities.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Working knowledge of typography, image sizing and cropping, composition, and digital illustration. Video-editing experience is a major plus!
- An appreciation and affinity for modern, playful design aesthetics
- Experience and/or interest in design for the social space.
- Ability to work from home or using your own equipment and software.
- Ability to communicate clearly through the written word, using proper grammar and spelling.

SEO SPECIALIST (volunteer position)
Position Summary:
The SEO Specialist will help improve Image With Heart’s ranking on search engines such as Google by leveraging what makes us different from other stock agencies so animal loving people and mission driven brands seeking stellar animal imagery can discover us and our content.
About Images with Heart:
Images With HeART is a stock imagery project merging two important causes: the promotion of pet adoption and rescue animals, as well as providing artists with a sustainable and ethical platform from which to sell their work.
The photographers who’s images grace our galleries are members of the Artists Helping Animals program of a HeARTs Speak, a nonprofit organization that unites Art and Advocacy to help shelter animals. More than 600 strong, its members provide close to 20,000 hours of services, pro bono, to animal shelters and rescues every month, granting lifesaving visibility to animals in need of homes.
Why are we unique? Not only do we have stellar, authentic animal imagery, 100% of the funds raised help homeless animals!
- 50% of the licensing fee goes to HeARTs Speak’s innovative programs that work to increase adoptions and transform the public perception of pet adoption worldwide.
- 50% of the licensing fee goes right back to the individual photographers who’s volunteer work provides life saving exposure to pets in the animal shelters and rescues in their local communities.
We are confident that once brands know about us they will want to purchase from us, and this is where you come in! This position requires a clever innovative thinker with an understanding of SEO, who is cognizant of user-experience and visitor retention, and who is capable of finding the most popular and relevant keywords used in search engine queries to get Images With Heart in front of those who don’t yet know that they need us!
This is a volunteer position.

- Adhere to HeARTs Speak’s privacy policies and responsible management of information
- Work with the Director of Operations to keep on top of different sets of data, including spreadsheet input, email responses, website updates, and more!

Type: Unpaid, but happy to support with college credit, volunteer hours, and basically a fountain of warm fuzzies, karma points, and good vibes.
Commitment: Flexible but hoping for somewhere between 4 and 10 hours weekly
Responsibilities:
- Grant research, Letter of Inquiry drafting, data compilation, follow-up research and other grant-related work with the Director of Operations and at times, Executive Director.
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and an understanding that feedback and draft-writing will be part of the grant writing process
- Ability to adhere to critical deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal/phone skills
- Efficient turnaround of projects and tasks
- Reliable and consistent communication with the Director of Operations and other HeARTs Speak team members involved in projects.
- Maintaining and celebrating the HeARTs Speak brand, mission, and reputation.
Qualifications:
